Thomas Carlyle Ford, better known today as Tom Ford, is an American fashion designer and film director. Initially trained as an architect at Parsons School of Design, Ford spent a year working abroad at an internship for fashion house Chloé and developed a feel for the fashion industry. Ford concealed his architecture background and displayed considerable personal charm in his pursuit of a job in the fashion industry. His first position was with American designer Cathy Hardwick. He accepted a position with Perry Ellis, but knew better prospects were available in Europe. Prestigious Italian fashion house Gucci was struggling at the time, and Ford accepted a position in Gucci's women's Ready-to-Wear division in 1990. Ford achieved considerable success at Gucci, eventually heading up multiple divisions before being named Creative Director in 1992. Ford's efforts were pivotal in Gucci's turn-around. The company was nearly bankrupt when Ford joined the organization, but when he left in 2004, the company's value had more than doubled. During Ford's tenure with Gucci, the company acquired Yves Saint Laurent, and Ford created provocative, controversial and highly successful ad campagins for YSL s Opium and M7. These ads were an early indicator of Ford's future direction. Tom Ford returned to the U.S. and announced the creation of his own brand in 2005. The company offers fashions, accessories and eyewear, and is known for its sexually-charged advertising. Ford also formed a partnership with Estee Lauder that same year, for the development of s and cosmetics. The first produced under this alliance, Black Orchid (2006) was an immediate success. A series of successful s for men and women have since been launched, along with a prestige line, Tom Ford Private Blend, whose first was Purple Patchouli in 2007. Ford's career took an unusual turn in 2009 when he directed his first film, "A Single Man," which was well-received by critics and filmgoers and earned a number of awards and nominations for the director and actors.

Tom Ford Lost Cherry is a full-bodied journey into the once-forbidden; a contrasting scent that reveals a tempting dichotomy of playful, candy-like gleam on the outside and luscious flesh on the inside. The heart bursts forth in cherry waves of sweet and tart. Griotte Syrup expresses the textured maceration of voluptuous fruits while breathtaking florals Turkish Rose and Jasmine Sambac penetrate the senses and soul. About the Brand
Celebrated fashion designer Tom Ford is best known for turning Gucci into a brand worth billions of dollars, before leaving the business to launch his own highly successful brand.
Born to realtors in Austin, Texas, Ford spent his childhood in Texas and New Mexico, before decamping for New York to attend New York University, majoring in art history. Quitting after one year, Ford acted in television commercials before moving onto Parsons, where he studied architecture.
It was fashion, however, that really piqued his interest, having taken a year off to work at the Chloé press office in Paris. After graduating, he was hired by Cathy Hardwick, the American sportswear designer. Thereafter, Ford moved to Perry Ellis, then Europe, feeling like he couldn’t improve his design skills without leaving the country.
Ford became creative director at Gucci in 1994. Back then, the brand was nearly bankrupt and deeply unfashionable. He brought a sexiness and glamour to the brand, bringing on photographer Mario Testino and stylist Carine Roitfeld to shoot campaigns. He and Gucci’s then president, Domenico de Sole, took the company public and — in a bid to avoid a takeover by LVMH — joined forces with PPR (now Kering). By 2004, Gucci was valued at over $10 billion.
However, after creative differences with the PPR management, Ford and De Sole departed the company. Ford settled in Los Angeles, and directed and produced the film "A Single Man," which garnered an Oscar Academy nomination and Golden Globe nomination.
In 2006, Ford returned to fashion with his own label, initially with cosmetics and menswear before returning to the high-octane glamour of womenswear that had become his signature and trademark. De Sole also returned as chief executive of his label. Tom Ford Beauty is set to turn over $1 billion in sales by 2020.
In 2016 Ford wrote and directed the film "Nocturnal Animals" to significant critical acclaim. The film won a Grand Jury Prize at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival, with a cast including Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal receiving Golden Globe and Oscars nominations.
Ford and his longtime partner, Richard Buckley, have a son, born September 2012.
In March 2019, Ford was voted chairman of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), succeeding Diane von Furstenberg, who held the position for 13 years.
